Central Coast 2009

The Dragons Abreast Central Coast "Coast Busters" have been very busy paddling, training, competing, fundraising, socialising and generally having a ball as you can see from our pics.

We competed as part of the Australian team "Inspiration" at the First International Pink Breast Cancer Dragon Boat World Championships held in Singapore September 2006. The girls brought home a Bronze Medal for the Survivor/Supporter 500m Grand Final and were also Plate Champions in the 80/20 Womens Finals.

We have supported both the Mingara and Peninsula "Relay for Life" by entering as a team. Those of us who chose to even camped out for the night with our kids too which was a lot of fun!  We will be at Mingara "Relay" again this October during Breast Cancer Month and will be fundraising and promoting Dragons Abreast in shopping centres around our local area during October also.

September this year our whole Team will be attending "Abreast in Australia" at Caloundra and we are proud to say we have enough paddlers to fill an entire boat! We can't wait to celebrate with  other Survivors from Canada, the Usa, New Zealand, Singapore and Italy on our home turf.

Through the course of the past year we have participated in the Chinese New Year Festival at Darling Harbour.

Hosted our own Regatta on the Wyong River alongside our non breast cancer sporting Team "Sea Dragons".

Attended the Breast Cancer Institute's major annual fundraising "Best Breakfast" at Olympic Park.

Spent a weekend for Xmas in July at Eco Point

Competed in numerous Dragon Boat NSW regattas against other DA teams as well as non DA teams.

Hosted our own highly successful Fashion Parade this month at Wyong Leagues Club, complete with Belly Dancers! to mention a few activities..........as well as the odd BBQ, picnic and night out.

Our members range in age from just turned 40 to almost 70!

Weekly paddling training sessions are held on Sunday mornings at Peel Street, Toukley on the Lake. We conduct two separate sessions and you are welcome to paddle at either or both. The earlier session is for those of us who wish to compete and the second session is purely social.

New members and paddlers are always welcome! Don't worry if you have never paddled before.......most of us hadn't when we first came along....Celebrate Life!!!
